About David Medland - Chartered Financial Planner Based in Falmouth, Cornwall

There are no shortage of financial advisers in the UK – but finding one who combines genuine expertise, true independence, and a personal, caring approach to client service is rarer than it should be. David Medland has built his practice on exactly that combination, and it is what continues to define the way he works with every client he meets.

David graduated from Plymouth University in 2002 with a degree in Accounting and Finance and has spent his entire career in financial services – working his way to becoming a fully Chartered Financial Planner with over 15 years’ experience as a qualified adviser. He holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning (Level 6) – among the highest professional qualifications available in the financial planning industry – alongside a suite of specialist qualifications covering pension planning, personal tax and trust planning, business financial planning, mortgage advice, discretionary investment management, and long-term care insurance. As an Associate of the Personal Finance Society (APFS), David is bound by a rigorous code of professional ethics and a commitment to ongoing development – ensuring his knowledge and expertise remain at the forefront of an ever-changing industry.

David operates under Octo Financial Planning, an authorised representative of 2Plan Wealth Management Ltd – one of the UK’s leading wealth management networks with over 400 advisers nationwide, and itself part of The Openwork Partnership, which has over 4,200 advisers operating across 700 firms. This backing gives David access to a breadth of financial products, platforms, and exclusive pricing that smaller, standalone advisory firms simply cannot match – combining the personal service of a local, independent adviser with the resource and reach of a major national network.

As a genuinely independent financial adviser – categorised as such by the Financial Conduct Authority – David is free to consider products and solutions from across the entire market. There are no ties to particular providers, no restricted panels, and no conflicts of interest. Every recommendation David makes is based solely on what is right for the individual in front of him.

David has lived in Falmouth for over ten years with his wife and two young children, and he is as much a part of the local community as he is a part of his clients’ financial lives. He is proud to offer a truly personal service – one where clients are known by name, not by account number, and where every interaction reflects the same care and attention he would want for his own family. Whether you prefer to come into his Falmouth office for a face-to-face meeting over a cup of tea, or would rather arrange a Teams call from the comfort of your own home, David is flexible, approachable, and always happy to help.

Outside of work, David enjoys a frame of snooker when time allows and has been patiently learning to play guitar for a number of years – though his two young children, he admits, leave precious little time for either.
